Kenneth W. Williams

U.S. Veteran

Kenneth W. Williams, 70, of 232 Samuel’s Avenue, Hazleton, died unexpectedly Sunday evening.

Born in Summit Hill on October 10, 1941, he was a son of the late Walter N. and Catherine A. (Miller) Williams.

Ken was a 1959 graduate of Summit Hill High School and through out his working life, was employed as a computer technician for various corporate firms until his retirement in 2005 from IBM Corporation.

He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Summit Hill and Frackville American Legions.

Ken was a very active member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Hazleton and also held membership in the Hazleton Owls Rod and Gun Club, the ECUS Club and the YMPA

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Williams.

Surviving are his former wife, JoAnn (Hollywood) Williams; son, Ken Williams of Philadelphia; daughter, Lynne Schreiber and her husband Garry of New Baden, IL; daughter, Shannan Callavini and her husband David of Hazle Township; daughter, Melanie Dillman of Frackville; and grandchildren, Zack, Caitlin, Nathan, Brett, Rachal and Matthew. Also surviving are his sister, Elizabeth Briner and her husband Paul of Harrisburg; brother, Ronald Williams of Summit Hill; brother, Gerald Williams and his wife Nancy of Newfoundland; sister, Beverly Tridente and her husband Joseph of Millsboro, DE; brother, Walter I. Williams and his wife Anne of Bethlehem; many nieces and nephews; and his girlfriend of 6 years, Billynda Ulshafer.

A funeral will be held Thursday at 12:00 PM from the Hazle Chapel of Krapf and Hughes Funeral Home, Inc., 426 West Broad Street, Hazleton. The service will continue at 12:30 PM in the Christ Lutheran Church, Hazleton where Rev. Wayne Lupole will preside. Burial will follow in the St. Johns Lutheran and UCC Cemetery at St. Johns.

Friends may call at the Hazle Chapel on Thursday morning from 10am to 12pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the “All Saint’s Fund” at Christ Lutheran Church are welcomed by the family and can be mailed to the church office at 210 W. Green St. Hazleton, PA 18201.
